 | Hurghada Airport’s new runway will be operational by the end of 2015 and the upgrade of Alexandria’s Nouzha Airport will be finished in June 2016, Civil Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal said in a press conference Tuesday.
The functionality of the new runway of Hurghada Airport is being tested technically after it was equipped with LED lighting systems and navigational aids in a prelude to inaugurated it before 2016, Youm7 quoted Kamal as saying.
Meanwhile, the power station and the 2,200-runway of Nouzha Airport are being upgraded, Kamal said, adding that trial operation of the runway has begun using helicopters and light aircrafts.
The passenger terminal building and area are also being reestablished to increase their capacity to accommodate 400 passengers per hour, rather than 200 passengers.
On Sunday, the Cabinet approved the establishment of an airport in Ras Sedr, South Sinai to enhance tourist turnout. | | |
